Business challenge

Bankdata promises customers reliable, affordable access to banking’s most up-to-date technology solutions. The organization needed to team with a technology provider that would help it deliver on that promise.

Bankdata developed a portal solution based on IBM® WebSphere® Portal software. The client uses the platform to achieve economies of scale through shared portal services while meeting individual bank requirements for personalized employee and customer digital experiences.

Business challenge story

Improving bank competitiveness

Bankdata’s charter is to improve association member banks’ competitive standings through effective technology use. “We strive for excellence in applying new technologies to support profitable growth for our member banks,” says Søren Flø Larsen, solution architect at Bankdata.

When Internet banking portals began to emerge as a critical part of modern banking technology, Bankdata quickly added cutting-edge portal solutions to its offerings, and its investment in portal technology continues today.

“The way people bank has shifted. People no longer drop by a bank branch during their lunch hours. Today, they expect to perform nearly all of their banking transactions remotely on personal computers and mobile devices. Keeping up with these trends has required us to continually upgrade and improve our portal offerings,” says Larsen.

The IBM solution allows us to both make the most efficient use of our IT resources and help our banks differentiate themselves.

Transformation story

Unified portal framework

Bankdata built its first internal banking portal on IBM WebSphere Portal software, which is part of the IBM Customer Experience Suite platform. Today, the platform supports three distinct uses: a Bank Advisor portal to streamline customer service, an Internet Banking portal for customer self-service and a Web Content Management portal that contains basic functionality and offers login and security solutions that banks can use to better maintain their external corporate websites.

Results story

More IT for less money

“We’re developing what we aim to be the best-rated Internet banking service in Denmark,” says Larsen. To that end, Bankdata continues to work on upgrading portal functionality, adding business process management (BPM) tools and incorporating new mobile capabilities, such as Personal Funds Management features to help bank customers save and invest wisely.

Bankdata is also moving forward on a more agile product development and governance approach for greater flexibility and faster time to market. It is using IBM Rational® Application Developer and IBM Rational Team Concert™ tools to support a Scrum methodology. The goal is to have all development projects run under Scrum within the next year.
