IndusInd Bank runs a multi-vendor application environment, including several key banking applications, on the IBM WebSphere Application Server platform. As the bank planned to upgrade from version 7.0 of the WebSphere software to version 8.5.5, it faced two major challenges: it needed to identify and mitigate the risks of the migration for each application involved; and it needed to conduct the migration with minimal disruption to the business.

IBM AVP services engaged their migration experts on this project and helped us conduct a smooth migration of critical applications without any business downtime and impact.

Seamless migration

IndusInd Bank engaged the support team from the IBM Software Accelerated Value Program, which specializes in helping to reduce the risks associated with complex IT projects. The IBM team facilitated a migration assessment and produced a detailed migration planning document that highlighted—for each of the bank’s affected applications—the migration methodology, tooling, required effort, prerequisites, dependencies, timelines and more.

Only one week after IndusInd Bank and the IBM team began to implement the plan, they had successfully migrated 10 medium- to high-complexity applications to WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 software. Throughout the project, the Accelerated Value Program team provided installation, configuration, performance tuning, best-practices implementation and issue resolution services.
