Jamey Butcher, Executive Vice President, Chemonics International

Business Challenge

As part of its global efforts to help people live healthier, more productive, and more independent lives, Chemonics received a $10 billion, multi-year contract from USAID to deliver life-saving commodities for HIV/AIDS, malaria, reproductive health and maternal child health to over 60 countries.

Chemonics teamed with IBM Services to create its Automatic Requisition Tracking Management Information System, or ARTMIS, to fundamentally transform its global supply chain operations. ARTMIS includes an online catalogue, optimization techniques and data visualization that help Chemonics manage orders up to 24 months out. Chemonics has already saved $88 million dollars that it passed on to the people it helps by buying more commodities with the money saved.
