IBM Cloud is a one-of-a-kind, customized opportunity for savings.

According to a recent CIO DIVE article in conjunction with Flexera data, IBM Cloud came in with the lowest prices across 67 cloud computing scenarios to beat out Microsoft, Google, and AWS. In fact, AWS offered the lowest price in only one instance; it had the highest price in 31 scenarios. IBM offered the lowest price in 28 scenarios and the highest in 13.

Where are the cracks in your cloud spend?

Cloud costs need to support your bottom line at every step of the way along your public cloud journey. You need opportunities for savings regardless of your particular workload use case, your ability to make upfront payments, the technology you use in your set up, or the data centers you deploy from. At IBM Cloud, we understand that, and we’ve made it our mission over the past three years to help our clients optimize their cloud spend for significant savings, ease of use, and innovation.

In 2017, we reduced 26 cloud storage, networking, and compute prices over the course of six months. In 2018, we reduced the price of all IBM Cloud Virtual Servers and added more billing options for virtual instances. In 2019, we reduced IBM Cloud Bare Metal Server prices on average by 17% across the board and included 20TB of bandwidth, cost-free.

The IBM Cloud trifecta for every workload and budget

  1. Customizable compute to match on-premises power: Plus, they are on demand. You could be online within minutes, versus the ordering and shipping time (about 6+ weeks) associated with on-premises hardware. Choose from hourly billing, monthly, reserved, etc. at prices set for smart cloud cost management. Customize and choose your bare metal processor and RAM. Add on GPUs for high performance computing workloads. Create fast, resilient, and agile virtual server instances and spin them up in minutes. Running IBM Power Systems? Create a hybrid cloud framework and migrate certain workloads to the cloud for backup and disaster recovery or app modernization requirements.
  2. Isolated and secure: Achieve continuous security for your workloads with the highest level of isolation for enterprise workloads behind the firewall. Customers have full control of the stack and transparency for audit purposes, right down to the serial number of the server. IBM Cloud Hyper Protect Crypto Services is designed to enable you to take control of your cloud data encryption keys and cloud hardware security modules (HSM), and is the only service in the industry with FIPS 140-2 Level 4-certified certification.
  3. Global data centers connected with a blazing fast network: Expanding to a new country or a new region? We have 60+ data centers on 6 continents in over 190 cities so you can give your customers a satisfactory user experience, regardless of where they are. No hidden fees and transparent bandwidth packages.

We understand that every workload is unique, requiring different levels of resources and services. We’ve optimized pricing and instance choices so you don’t have to run into over-subscriptions, while giving your workloads exactly what they need to run at peak performance. There are security and safety guards in place to uncover hidden threats, and plenty of cost-effective backup and recovery services to protect your data because in the end, it’s less expensive to maintain than it is to create from scratch.

We designed the IBM Cloud not as a one-size-fits-all state, but rather as a one-of-a-kind, customized opportunity for savings.

But, don’t just take our word. See what our customers have to say:

“We prefer IBM because it’s cheaper than competition … the live support chat and debugging is really helpful and it’s available even on the basic support plan, unlike AWS and GCP.” – Venkat Charan, Co-Founder, GoPlay

Understanding glue records and Dedicated DNS

3 min read - Domain name system (DNS) resolution is an iterative process where a recursive resolver attempts to look up a domain name using a hierarchical resolution chain. First, the recursive resolver queries the root (.), which provides the nameservers for the top-level domain(TLD), e.g.com. Next, it queries the TLD nameservers, which provide the domain’s authoritative nameservers. Finally, the recursive resolver  queries those authoritative nameservers.   In many cases, we see domains delegated to nameservers inside their own domain, for instance, “example.com.” is delegated…

Using dig +trace to understand DNS resolution from start to finish

2 min read - The dig command is a powerful tool for troubleshooting queries and responses received from the Domain Name Service (DNS). It is installed by default on many operating systems, including Linux® and Mac OS X. It can be installed on Microsoft Windows as part of Cygwin.  One of the many things dig can do is to perform recursive DNS resolution and display all of the steps that it took in your terminal. This is extremely useful for understanding not only how the DNS…

4 ways generative AI addresses manufacturing challenges

4 min read - The manufacturing industry is in an unenviable position. Facing a constant onslaught of cost pressures, supply chain volatility and disruptive technologies like 3D printing and IoT. The industry must continually optimize process, improve efficiency, and improve overall equipment effectiveness. At the same time, there is this huge sustainability and energy transition wave. Manufacturers are being called to reduce their carbon footprint, adopt circular economy practices and become more eco-friendly in general. And manufacturers face pressure to constantly innovate while ensuring…
