As IBM Connect itself transforms, taking place for the first time in San Francisco, what better year to explore the transformation of HR? The landscape is shifting under our feet, powered by new global dynamics as well as new technologies – not least of which is cognitive computing.
There is virtually no part of HR that will remain untouched by cognitive: recruitment, learning, performance management, career development and operational support will all become easier, quicker, more robust and more efficient as new technologies provide instrumental insights and invaluable assistance.
All this will occur despite the upheavals in the talent acquisition environment brought on by challenges such as globalization, skills gaps and the growing power and expectations of candidates. The pace of change will continue to increase but social, analytics, automation and cognitive will rise to the challenge – for example, by improving candidate experiences, and better matching people with jobs.
Everyone will benefit from these advancements, from candidates to recruiters to employees. New tools such as cognitive career coaches will follow and continue to help employees throughout their careers, opening up new opportunities for them, increasing engagement and driving business results for the organization.
