Innovating with AI and Blockchain for Professionals

We recently announced a definitive agreement under which HCL Technologies intends to acquire a select number of IBM marketing and commerce software products. HCL is a valued IBM partner with whom we already have a development partnership with, in support of the products in the announcement. HCL and IBM expect to close the transaction in mid-2019, subject to completion of applicable regulatory reviews.

This announcement enables us to sharpen our focus on AI, Analytics and Blockchain-powered innovations for business professionals. In April, Gartner forecasted the value of global AI business to total $1.2 trillion in 2018 and $3.9 trillion by 2022. There is a massive value creation opportunity that AI brings. AI is a tool that helps industries and professionals gain critical insights from the avalanche of data, to help them make better decisions, drive better outcomes and market opportunities. This particular computing shift is one that will be enterprise driven, and in IBM’s view, where all industries can win.

The research and development investments we’re making in emerging technologies including AI and Blockchain are strategic to how our enterprise clients drive business value today and in the future. Applying this technology across marketing, in AI customer service platforms, in supply chains and more will provide a competitive advantage across every industry and this will be increasingly true in 2019.
