How to get started with the Watson Analytics user experience

New Interface To deliver advanced analytics technology without the complexity, we have prioritized the needs of people who will use Watson Analytics by applying the IBM Design Thinking approach, focusing on user outcomes and needs. This has helped us create a an exceptional user experience for Watson Analytics.

The design is centered on the notion of data, discover and display–all in a single location, making it easier and faster to engage with data and find new insights.

Whether you are already using Watson Analytics or want to try it for the first time, these steps can get you started.

Step 1: Go to

Click Try it for free.

Step 2: Start the registration process and get your validation code

The first part of this step is different for new subscribers and current Watson Analytics users. If you haven’t previously used Watson Analytics, enter the email address you want to use for your new Watson Analytics account. Click Submit and you’ll receive a validation code in an email sent to the address you entered.


If you’re already using Watson Analytics, enter the email address associated with your Watson Analytics account and you will be prompted to enter your Watson Analytics account password. After you click submit, your validation code will be sent to your email address.

Step 3: Complete the registration process

Enter the validation code and enter information in the remaining fields to complete the registration process. The Products and Services page will open.

Step 4: Launch Watson Analytics Professional to start trying it

New Watson Analytics users will see an offer to try Watson Analytics Professional free for 30 days. Click Launch to try Professional or Upgrade to purchase Plus or Professional.

Existing users will see their current Watson Analytics editions if they have subscribed in the past. They will also see the 30 day offer to try Professional edition. Click Launch to start using Watson Analytics Professional for free.

Now you can experience easy analytics using the new Watson Analytics interface for data preparation, data discovery, and data display.



What happens when the 30 days end?

When 30 days have passed, you will be prompted to keep Professional edition as a paid subscription with all it has to offer and can proceed with this option.

Or, you can revert to the Free edition of Watson Analytics and use it for as long as you like. You’ll always have the option to move to Watson Analytics Plus or Professional editions with extended storage and capabilities.
