The advent of digital gave marketers an exciting way to advertise, introducing real-time measurement and accountability. It also gave consumers tools to get what they want without interruptions. Sophisticated CMOs have countered this behavior by investing in tools and systems that let them see with pinpoint precision into the lives of their customers across all phases of the customer life cycle. The next step in learning who consumers are — how best to serve them and least annoy them — involves the Internet of Things.
