VersaStack real-world performance

When we committed to providing deeply integrated all-flash solutions throughout our storage portfolio, we were driven by the most basic objective in business–providing greater value to the customer. This is not an obsolete marketing slogan. Even in today’s world of cognitive computing, hybrid cloud, big data analytics and mobile and social systems of engagement, delivering more value to the customer is still how you capture and keep competitive advantage.

Adding multiple all-flash options to the VersaStack lineup seems like a natural expansion as the need to derive real value from their data skyrockets for businesses. IBM’s Storwize V7000 anchored our first VersaStack Cisco-validated solution design (CVD), but over the intervening months we’ve added the power and performance of IBM FlashSystem V9000 and the cost and customer agility offered by Storwize V5000. FlashSystem V9000 is an award-winning all-flash array; while the market-leading Storwize V7000 and V5000 both offer all-flash configurations based on our new triple level cell (TLC) flash drives, making flash performance more affordable than ever. All of these storage systems provide the defined storage capabilities of IBM Spectrum Virtualize, assisting enterprises with application workloads of all types and sizes to move just as fast as they can imagine.

VersaStack solutions offer proven customer value in the most performance and cost-demanding environments on the planet. Customers such as Medicat, JJ Haines, Ibersnack, DutchCloud and i-Virtualize are deploying VersaStack to lower infrastructure costs and complexity. Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, for example, is a 238-bed healthcare institution employing more than 2,200 people. It provides a wide range of healthcare services, including highly respected programs for maternity, cancer treatment, stroke and cardiology care, and a wide range of inpatient and outpatient surgical services.

Henry Mayo deployed an all-flash VersaStack converged infrastructure solution to run their electronic health records (HER) applications. VersaStack powered by FlashSystem V9000:

  • Cut response times and boosted staff productivity to help meet growing demand for care
  • Prepared Henry Mayo for the future, with easy scaling options and rapid provisioning
  • Slashed infrastructure management for new capabilities with no additional IT headcount.

The VersaStack solution will help our physicians spend more time where they are most needed–at the patient’s bedside. We did not go looking for a converged solution, but once IBM demonstrated what VersaStack brought to the table it was an obvious choice. Incorporating all-flash storage via the FlashSystem V9000–at a significantly lower price than the main competing offer–we knew that it would provide an exceptional price-performance ratio.”

– Cindy Peterson, Henry Mayo CIO and VP

When it comes to providing real-world value, customers like Cindy say it better than we can:

VersaStack is a true platform for the future: we can scale up with ease when we want and provision new environments in a fraction of the time. VersaStack is playing a critical role in our evolution as a hospital.”

VersaStack offers dramatic improvements in IT efficiency, user productivity, and application time to value which quickly translate into savings.  These savings should far outstrip the associated costs of the platform. How much can you save?  According to ESG, nearly $2.4 million dollars in incremental business benefits over three years!  Read the paper to learn how.
