This week, IBM’s newly announced FlashSystem 9100 all-flash array received the award for Most Innovative Flash Memory Technology at the 2018 Flash Memory Summit (FMS) in Santa Clara, California.

IBM FlashSystem 9100 offers unique advantages of FlashCore technology deeply integrated with the software-defined capabilities of IBM Spectrum Storage solutions. The NVMe-optimized all-flash arrays provides up to 2 petabytes (PB) of effective data storage in a very sleek 2U subsystem. FlashCore technology innovations can deliver consistent microsecond latency, reliability, and a wide range of operational and cost efficiencies. A key innovation involves the introduction of FlashCore Modules with the NVMe interface that can be deployed with combinations of industry-standard NVMe flash drives to provide a tailored, flexible, high performance storage solution.

IBM has built an enviable history of winning FMS awards. For example, last year IBM’s Spectrum Scale was named the 2017 recipient for “Most Innovative Flash Memory Business Application.” This was the second year in a row that IBM had been named a winner in this particular Best of Show category.
