Flash Memory Summit Award: Most Innovative Flash Memory Technology — IBM FlashSystem 9100
This week, IBM’s newly announced FlashSystem 9100 all-flash array received the award for Most Innovative Flash Memory Technology at the 2018 Flash Memory Summit (FMS) in Santa Clara, California.
“Customers demand new levels of performance, data reduction and ROI from their storage investments,” said Jay Kramer, Chairman of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors Inc. “We are proud to recognize the IBM FlashSystem 9100, which delivers unmatched performance with 100μs latency, 2.5M IOPS and 34GB/sec bandwidth and up to 5:1 data reduction through block-level deduplication, hardware-based compression technology, SCSI UNMAP support, pattern matching, and thin provisioning for an impressive cost effective storage solution.”
IBM FlashSystem 9100 offers unique advantages of FlashCore technology deeply integrated with the software-defined capabilities of IBM Spectrum Storage solutions. The NVMe-optimized all-flash arrays provides up to 2 petabytes (PB) of effective data storage in a very sleek 2U subsystem. FlashCore technology innovations can deliver consistent microsecond latency, reliability, and a wide range of operational and cost efficiencies. A key innovation involves the introduction of FlashCore Modules with the NVMe interface that can be deployed with combinations of industry-standard NVMe flash drives to provide a tailored, flexible, high performance storage solution.
IBM has built an enviable history of winning FMS awards. For example, last year IBM’s Spectrum Scale was named the 2017 recipient for “Most Innovative Flash Memory Business Application.” This was the second year in a row that IBM had been named a winner in this particular Best of Show category.
IBM believes that today there is only one kind of successful enterprise – the data-driven multi-cloud organization. We can see the needs of these businesses reflected in some of the most powerful trends currently driving enterprise data storage: NVMe, artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud, and containers. The question becomes – Is there a storage solution available today, built on mature, proven technologies, that can address these storage trends within a single platform and enables them across both traditional and modern data centers?
The answer is yes – IBM FlashSystem 9100.
