John Ferris

John Ferris is a services executive for IBM, responsible for IBM Systems Lab Services strategy and its European market. He has a long and distinguished career in IBM, starting in manufacturing in Scotland, before leading software and hardware development in Kingston, New York, and Hursley, England. He then established and grew Software Services for WebSphere in Europe in the late 1990s, followed by establishing IBM Systems Lab Services in Europe in 2008. He is passionate about teaching leadership skills, as well as encouraging women to pursue, and maintain, a career in engineering. John is married to committed feminist and playwright Linda McLean, and they have a daughter and a son.
