If you are personally involved in bringing applications to market, I’m sure you are feeling the pressure to deliver those apps faster and faster. Are you using a Cisco UCS and VersaStack infrastructure? You’ll want to read this blog post to learn about how you can easily add IBM PureApplication Software to your infrastructure to create a private cloud application platform that can help you deliver applications faster to meet the needs of your business.

For insight directly from the experts on how to accelerate app delivery in a Cisco UCS and VersaStack environment, join the Google Hangout on 1 June 2016 at 12:00 PM EST.

What is Cisco UCS?

The Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) is Cisco’s x86-based converged infrastructure offering. Cisco defines it as a system to “Unite computing, networking, storage access, and virtualization into a solution that separates scale from complexity.”

What is VersaStack?

VersaStack is a collaboration between IBM and Cisco, essentially UCS integrated infrastructure combined with IBM Storage solutions. VersaStack is a solution defined by the Cisco Validated Design Program (CVD). It provides the compute, storage and network “muscle” for an efficient and versatile integrated infrastructure. With the advanced virtualization of compute, storage and network, VersaStack allows diverse application workloads to share the underlying hardware efficiently.

How does PureApp add value?

IBM PureApplication is an application platform for quickly and repeatedly deploying applications and middleware with enterprise-grade services. PureApp Software adds middleware automation and life cycle management software to create a robust, fully integrated stack using VMware as the management layer for hardware virtualization. Cisco UCS and VersaStack provide the integrated infrastructure for PureApp to drive speed, efficiency and flexibility for enterprise workload deployment. This should be especially attractive to customers interested in deploying applications and IBM middleware into UCS/VersaStack environments.

“By adding PureApplication Software, we transform our converged infrastructure offering into a full-featured hybrid cloud application platform. The combined solution provides application lifecycle management, a simplified deployment experience, lower total cost of ownership (TCO), less risk, and faster time to value for IBM and Cisco customers.”

Don Hansen – IBM Global Account Manager

PureApp makes it simple and fast to deploy your applications and core middleware for the first time, or to move them from one environment to another. Its automated pattern-based approach makes provisioning new environments fast, easy and repeatable to help you eliminate delays and differences in standing up development, test or production environments. It’s as easy as a few clicks to provision virtual system resources and deploy your application configuration using patterns. And the same patterns work both on premises and off premises, allowing you to move workloads easily across your hybrid cloud landscape.

With UCS, VersaStack and PureApp, you can:

  • Accelerate application delivery: Allow IT to provision and deploy environments into development, test or production in minutes with just a few clicks.
  • Deploy applications anywhere seamlessly: Create applications once and deploy between on premises and off premises using patterns.
  • Adopt open technologies with enterprise-strength management: Easily integrate emerging technologies such as Docker, Chef and Heat into your enterprise environment and integrate existing middleware, applications and databases.
  • Reduce risk and errors: Take advantage of patterns and built-in automation for faster, repeatable and reliable deployments.
