Semler and IBM MaaS360
IBM MaaS360 is a trusted enterprise mobility management solution enabling enterprises to manage mobile devices and access enterprise data in a secure environment yet simple and safe. It is an easy to use software solution for protecting data and logistics on mobile devices.
Semler installed Maas360 in 2015. I visited Semler and asked Claus Nybro, IT Operation Manager, about their experience with MaaS360 – and here is what Claus told us.
The main reason for installing MaaS360 was to improve security on mobile devices. Based upon Gartner Group’s Magic Quadrant, Semler found that MaaS360 was the best fit.
All Semler employees – about 800 with a mobile phone are protected by MaaS360. The mobile phone is an important working tool for all employees, that often work remotely. Via mobile phones all employees can perform the same tasks – at the same high security level – as being online with a computer.
Semler has developed their own apps, that are installed on iPad’s or on the employee’s mobile phones. An example is clients asking for a test drive at the car retail shops. Before Maas360, all Semler car sellers were dependent upon their PCs, when filling out legislative forms before the test drive. Now everything is done safe and simple on the mobile phone.
The client’s driver’s license is photographed and stored centrally for further use. Required documents can be printed directly from the mobile device. This improves the client experience by being able to test his/her hopefully new car very fast and without having to fill out a lot of documents, scanning, printing, etc.
By exploiting the benefits of MaaS360, Semler has decided to deploy more mobile apps to improve both client experience and employee productivity. On the enterprise level, Semler is considering to implement VPN (Virtual Private Network) to handle large enterprise production workloads. The feature provides a pre-integrated “cloud-within-the-network” infrastructure to help organizations enjoy the flexibility and simplicity of public cloud with many of the security advantages of a private cloud.
