An Open Source Data Science Toolbox Built for Business

Share this post:

Last week this blog covered how SPSS is embracing the growing open source movement in data science, enabling teams to work with open source tools while still using the familiar SPSS Modeler and Statistics tools.

But for organisations that are looking to work even more closely together and have the advanced coding skills to work with some of the new and cutting-edge tools in open source like Scala, Python and Jupyter Notebooks, there is another tool from IBM to allow data scientists to do even more with their open source skills.

The IBM Data Science Experience (DSX) launched in 2016 and is a data science tool built on top of open source platforms for the data science team that needs a collaborative platform to deliver insights and analysis to the business.

Simple Analysis and Visualisation in DSX

Creating a framework around the open source toolbox of Scala, Python, RStudio and Jupyter Notebooks, the Data Science Experience allows you to create using the best of open source tooling with the best of IBM innovation.

 Collaboration is Key

One of the neat features of DSX is that it really combines all of the open source software under one umbrella, allowing your team to work in a smarter way by really collaborating on projects across multiple pieces of software.

You can now also run Watson Machine Learning through DSX. So, you can use your own data to create, train, and deploy self-learning models. Leverage an automated, collaborative workflow to drive intelligence into day-to-day business applications easily and with more confidence. It’s a simple, powerful and flexible way to deploy machine learning in your business.

And, of course, DSX comes with all of the security and stability of an IBM product, being available to run on IBM Cloud, your private cloud or your desktop. Like the SPSS integration with open source, this is more tools for business to open themselves up to the power of open source in an environment that meets the needs of business, data scientist and security.
