Open for Business – New IBM Cloud Garage in Copenhagen

As the new Cloud Leader for IBM in the Nordics, my start in the role could not be better than with the official opening of the 10th IBM Cloud Garage, the newest, located in Copenhagen to serve Nordic clients.

What is a Garage and how does it help clients?

About four years ago we launched our first Cloud Garage in San Francisco in response to the increasing market adoption of Cloud. Clients wanted to know how they should adopt Cloud and learn about best practices. It was that demand from clients that ignited the concept of the Cloud Garage.

Today, clients big and small, across industries such as industrial, retail, banking and travel are already using the Garage in Copenhagen for several reasons.

Primarily they want to know how to engage their consumers differently.

They specifically want to know how they can use their own client data and mobile technologies via the Cloud to improve user experiences.

One of the secret successes of the Garage is the unique Design Thinking process workshops. Client teams are taken out of their daily environments into creative spaces where they can think out of the box and explore ideas. The teams are made up of – designers, developers, architects and business leaders – together with IBM experts – taking down silos and collaborating with ecosystem to build disruptive solutions on the Cloud.

Whilst the 7th of February was the official launch date, we have had the Garage open for the past six months. It was a proud moment to see at the opening two clients already able to share their experience at the Garage

One of the clients was a Danish travel agency called C&C Travel who shared how they worked with us to improve travellers’ experience, and described it as ‘transformative’ and changed their thinking going forward. The client stories combined with the launch speeches and tours of the Garage showed our guest clients and partners, what great value the Garage brings – for all sizes and with very different opportunities they strive to solve.

The Garage also has visitors that come to learn how to scale with Cloud.

For those clients, we give them access to IBM experts who can advise them on the best practices for the technology. The experts help clients understand the new architectures needed to integrate new Cloud native applications with existing applications, enabling them to be robust and secure.

We selected the Copenhagen start up location for the Garage because it is recognised as one of the most innovative places in the world, it has amazing talent and a great digital footprint. All companies large and small from across the Nordics can benefit from this ecosystem and environment.

If you are interested in visiting the Cloud Garage please do not hesitate to contact Filip Knudsen at  FKNUDSEN@dk.ibm.com. We’d be delighted to see you.
