IBM earns fifth AI-related leader position for open AI infrastructure
The Forrester Wave has named IBM a leader across five AI-related categories. Most recently, IBM Cloud Private for Data earned its place among vendors offering enterprise insights platforms. Forrester noted in its report that ICP for Data uses Kubernetes to deploy on premises or on the public cloud. “IBM has pre-integrated capabilities that allow clients to be productive in a week or less,” the report states.
This should come as good news to enterprises looking to embark upon AI projects but who still swim against a tide of industry disruptors, citing hurdles such as cost, complexity and a shortage of data science skills. For example, the IBM Data Science Elite team has helped clients such as Experian, Kaiser Permanente and Red Electrica De Espana quickly get started on their AI journey at no cost.
“Clients are embracing the necessity of getting their data ready for AI, and being successful demands a prescriptive approach,” said Daniel G. Hernandez, vice president at IBM Analytics. “Built on open source, ICP for Data is designed to accelerate a smoother journey to AI, lowering the barrier to entry, increasing opportunities while reducing all-too-common perils.”
Over the past year, IBM has been named a leader across four AI-related categories in a Forrester Wave report, including:
- Multimodal Predictive Analytics & Machine Learning: Watson Studio
- Machine Learning Data Catalogs: Watson Knowledge Catalog
- Conversational Computing Platforms: Watson Assistant
- AI Text Analytics Platforms: Watson Discovery
IBM was also recognized as number 1 in 2017 in overall market share for AI platforms revenue, by IDC for helping enterprises collect, organize and analyze information that becomes the basis of an AI system.
Not only is the market taking note of the strides IBM has made, but the design world has also spoken. In June, IBM Watson Studio was named winner for the “Best innovation in Deep Learning” at the world-renowned, independently-judged AIconics awards. IBM won the award for “being a pioneer in deep learning, helping to drive machine learning applications towards the true potential of AI.”
