IBM Reaffirms Its Commitment to Offer Rewarding Internship Experiences in 2021

At the start of 2020, the IBM Internship Program was faced with the challenge of providing rich and valuable experiences to hundreds of interns across the globe. The team had to quickly adapt to social isolation measures implemented in different countries while still ensuring that our interns receive the same level of professional enrichment from the program.

Towards the end of 2020, we conducted a survey among current IBM interns across the globe. The results validate our efforts to provide them with a signature internship experience. Here are the highlights of the survey.

92% felt they had learned a lot during their internship

91% felt the company fosters a welcoming environment that encourages diversity

89% want to explore further job opportunities with IBM after graduation

87% felt they made valuable contributions

87% felt they could be their authentic self at IBM

86% felt they made lasting connections including senior contacts, mentors, and buddies

86% said they worked on challenging but rewarding assignments

Following our successful 2020 virtual internship program, we will continue to support interns in 2021 in the safest way, and in compliance with local guidance. This means interns may have a fully virtual, fully in-person experience, or a hybrid approach— we will adapt to whatever circumstances we face.
