Curious to know about the IBMers that you see in our branding campaigns? Ever wondered who they are and what they do in IBM? The IBMer Spotlight series is a light and fun installment where you’ll get to meet them all!

Meet Bhumika

Bhumika joined IBM in 2007 and currently works in our GTS business as a Global Program Manager for Cybersecurity.  She loves working at IBM because it is flexible, supportive and brings out the best in her. Bhumika was the winner of the IBM Women Who Inspire 2017 for IBM India and was the first Indian to be invited to officially run as a sighted guide to a visually impaired IBMer at the Boston Marathon in 2019.  She was also profiled as ‘India’s leading lady’ and ‘Woman inspiring a generation’ by World Marathon Majors in August 2019.   So let’s get to know this superwoman a little….

I like to start my day…
early before sunrise and feel the morning sun, which is the best medicine.

When I get up to go to work, I look forward to
look at the overall reason for co-existence.

I am responsible for
the people who look up to me.

My typical day
starts with a glass of ayurvedic water and dry fruits,  a run or walk,  drop my daughter to school,  start office work,  pick up my daughter from school,  help her with studies, attend my calls & meetings and sometimes a yoga session.

The coolest part of my job is
Flexibility with Responsibility

The biggest challenge I have is….
to make more and more people feel empowered and benefit from what I am doing.

The most memorable moment in my career is
when I received Global Technical Achievement Award for work done as Requirements Manager for Application Assembly Optimization Platform

My single most important career advice to someone who wants to join IBM is
a career with IBM is not only about doing your job, it is also about having a passion and hobby with focus on giveback to the community. It equips you to deal with the ups and downs and challenges with maturity. This in turn gives you the exposure to grow professionally in your career.
