Ovum names IBM a Leader in Application Lifecycle Management and DevOps Solution
Ovum report reinforces IBM’s leadership in the application lifecycle management marketplace.
Engineers are being driven to develop and deliver ever increasingly complex products. These products are no longer just discrete hardware devices, but are now the marriage of hardware and software. They are products that are constantly connected via the Internet of Things (IoT), and that respond intelligently to their surroundings. To survive, companies have to embrace new engineering models and tools to ensure they can successfully manage costs, quality, time to market, and competitive differentiation. Successful companies are adopting comprehensive, end-to-end engineering lifecycle management processes. I’m proud to announce that Ovum recognized the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management solution as a leader in their Ovum Decision Matrix: Selecting an Application Lifecycle Management and DevOps Solution, 2019-20 report.
Ovum Decision Matrix positions IBM as a leader in Application Lifecycle Management and DevOps Solution
The Ovum Decision Matrix: Selecting an Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and DevOps Solution, 2019–201 by Michael Azoff compared six leading ALM and DevOps solution providers. The results reinforce IBM’s leadership in the ALM (application lifecycle management) marketplace and our customers’ confidence in the IBM solutions.
The Ovum Decision Matrix report highlighted several key points:
- IBM has strengths across the range of ALM use cases including advanced engineered products and meeting the needs of Agile and DevOps teams in enterprise IT.
- Product engineering has a need for in-depth variant management and multiple configurations across requirements, tests, plans, and code. IBM has features to support these, also enabling reuse of assets. Supporting compliance is another strong engineering feature, for example, with link validation.
- There is a clear understanding of the benefits in spanning the arc of ALM and DevOps deployment, and the ALM and DevOps solutions integrate to share data and provide a complete end-to-end lifecycle view.
Vendors were required to have a set of core capabilities in the ALM space, additional capabilities spanning both engineering manufacturing and enterprise IT environments, and a broad set of DevOps release management capabilities.
