Did we have an opportunity to meet you at Realcomm? If not, let’s catch up now! It’s hard to believe that the show – the largest real estate technology event in the world – is over. For two days in Nashville, we met real estate and facility management professionals looking for ways to “recalibrate” – the theme of this year’s event. It was an exciting atmosphere of great thinking, in-depth learning, innovation and technology.

It’s all about the workplace experience

This year, we had a chance to talk to attendees about a subject near and dear to us: how to create a more engaging workplace experience. There are so many factors driving this conversion – greater competition for talent, more digitally savvy workers and the need to accommodate the “work from anywhere” model. Ultimately, as we discussed on the Realcomm show floor, it’s all about preparing for a new, modern workforce.

That’s why our booth was a hub of demonstrations and conversations around this important topic. Visitors got a look at how IBM TRIRIGA helps organizations accomplish this while also helping drive greater operational efficiency. Part of the reason is our ability to help optimize space. Did you know that, on average, 30-40% of commercial real estate is underutilized? If that’s true in your company, we can help you make the most of your space. We also have user-friendly mobile service apps. With these, you can simplify common tasks, like scheduling your catering and meeting rooms, reporting and requesting maintenance issues and controlling comfort settings. And of course, creating a better workplace experience requires a better user experience. That’s why users will find customizable apps, responsive design and better calendar integration in TRIRIGA.

But we didn’t stop with there. Since we believe the future is “assisted,” we brought Sarah, the virtual building concierge, to the show, too. She wowed attendees with her conversational skills, a few jokes and her ability to be an always helpful and tireless face for a facility. She’s one example of our upcoming TRIRIGA Virtual Assistant, a technology lets us bring the power of Watson to the workplace, and deliver a more differentiated, customized, conversational experience.

Another highlight of the event? A Realcomm interview with our own IBMers, Tina Scott, Business Development for Watson IoT, and Roger Amador, TRIRIGA sales. The focus of their conversation was “The future is AI; are you ready?” It was an insightful look at how companies can stay more competitive by analyzing building data and making smarter predictions. How can sensors, IoT and AI help?

Finally, attendees could tour TRIRIGA Building Insights. This powerful product uses sensors, IoT and AI to give users visibility into energy usage and answer critical questions like “are my buildings using too much energy?”. Designed for an enterprise, it allows users to uncover actionable insights to predict usage across all their connected facilities. Energy is a huge expense, yet with TRIRIGA Building Insights, you can identify small anomalies before they becomes large expenses, and take preventative actions, helping you manage and reduce costs. We also gave our booth visitors a sneak peak at some exciting new functionality that will be launching later this summer. More on that in a few weeks.
