My colleague Mark Cleverley has writing a very good post entitled “Making Sense of Big Data to Fight Crime” on the Smarter Planet blog and as the title indicates public safety agencies are facing some very real data challenges as we move into the age of information. The challenge does not come from the lack of information but rather the vast amounts of information that public safety agencies must wade through in order to find real insights and connections that will help them investigate crime, detect threats and more effectively deploy resources. As Mark’s blog points out while the amount of data has grown so to have the capabilities of data analytics, giving public safety agencies a much needed tool to meet many of today’s big data challenges. In conjunction with Mark’s post, which I urge you to look at, also download and read a recent whitepaper from Frost and Sullivan on public safety analytics.
If you want to learn more about how analytics is helping public safety agencies fight crime, improve response and make cities safer joinMark on April 5 on the People for a Smarter Planet Facebook page where he’ll be discussing Smarter Public Safety from 9:00 AM EST- 1:00 PM EST.
