We know that Ingram Micro has a comprehensive course portfolio, so can you tell us what students are looking for this year?

We are seeing a pattern consistent with that of industry analysts like TSIA. There is an increase in dedicated training classes customized to meet the customer’s business outcomes.  This approach is both efficient and effective. Moreover, customers are also looking to combine complimentary OEM skills like IBM and Cisco, for example.  The right skills delivered in context from a trusted resource can quickly show and increase return on technology investments.

What has most surprised you in 2018 so far?

While the digital transformation is well underway, we’re finding that there’s still a need for foundational skills. What is security? What is cloud? Cloud means different things to different individuals. Now, more than ever, we need to go back to the basics now. Business success depends on it.  New collar professionals, those new to the industry and current professionals moving into new areas, are increasing at a rapid rate. Have the right skills is critical to their success!

While we saw the emerging interest in this area, we were surprised by the volume of the demand. Sooner – and more – than anticipated. You might say that the Ingram Micro GRAD program, announced in Q4, arrived just in time to meet that demand. The GRAD Program uses a competency-based curriculum approach developed by Ingram Micro technology experts.  In 2018, our experts will be developing and releasing new content as well as advanced concepts of our current curriculum.
