Atos is one of the largest, recognized European IT services corporations which provides consulting, managed services and system integration, hi-tech transactional services, cloud and cybersecurity services. In order to do so, Atos is contin- uously investing in their lines of businesses and in their workforce.

 

Business need:
In the area of Mainframe services across the world, Atos is looking at an ageing workforce, specifically in the teams of z/OS System Operators supporting the companies’ customers. Atos realized that minding the skills gap and preventing loss of expertise is key to keep their high standards and to fight the impact of the demography.

 

Solution:
Working with LearnQuest, Atos designed and implemented a Mainframe Academy composed of a tailored Boot Camp dedicated to their new hired workforce by driving strategic change through learning.
A pilot has been started with the Atos Mainframe Delivery Center in Timișoara (Romania) in July 2015 as well as in the United Kingdom and Germany. The main objective of the Atos Mainframe Academy is to centrally train newly recruited System Operators on the fundamental skills needed for high-level support of their customers.
The Atos Mainframe Academy is designed as follows:

  1. Recruiting enthusiastic
  2. Two weeks of intensive, tailored and centralized classroom training on basic
  3. Followed by one month of internal on-the-job
  4. Completing with two weeks of intensive, tailored classroom training on advanced
