The pandemic is accelerating the technological trends that were already changing the future of work:

  • Automation, as technology creates new ways of doing work that once required human intervention
  • Digitization, in which a 8 in 10 jobs now require digital skills
  • Hybridization, where jobs combine skill sets that traditionally did not need to co-exist. For eg: Marketing managers now needing to have some degree of data analytical skills

According to the World Economic Forum, data science continues to evolve as one of the most promising and in-demand career paths for skilled professionals.

Today, successful data professionals understand that they must advance past the traditional skills of analyzing large amounts of data, data mining, and programming skills. In order to uncover useful intelligence for their organizations, data scientists must master the full spectrum of the data science life cycle and possess a level of flexibility and understanding to maximize returns at each phase of the process.

To help drive skills across the globe, IBM has built a very comprehensive portfolio of entry-level to advanced courses in English. A select few are translated into Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Brazilian Portuguese with more titles being added periodically.

In a recent survey conducted by Analytics Insight, by 2021, there will be over 3 million new job openings in data science, worldwide. With the increasing number of unique companies posting for data science job roles, it clearly indicates that data is a popular job openings aggregator.

Capturing, interpreting and being informed by data can radically transform any organization. This is why several industrial niches are looking to hire data science experts who help transform their business trajectories. It is important to note that these data science job roles are not limited to data scientists.
