Sagi Malka Tells Us to Dream More, Worry Less. Also: Adapt, and Be Kind.

An amateur nature photographer who always dreamed of working in computers and software, Sagi Malka is a mobile team leader at Dalet Digital Media Systems — which provides services and collaboration tools for media companies to create, manage, and produce content.  He understands the value of good content, strong processes, powerful technology and what it takes to be a good manager.

Sagi oversaw the creation and development of his company’s entire ecosystem of internal management tools and helped transform the way the whole organization works and how all the internal processes function. He’s also the kind of leader who holds dear the kind of ethical values that make companies good places to work: professionalism, modesty, creativity, room for growth, and real teamwork.

This interview has been shortened and edited for clarity.

What does it mean when you say you’re passionate about your work?

We spend most of our day at work, so you’d better be passionate about it! This means approaching problems as challenges that drive you forward and not looking at them as tedious tasks. Creative solutions to complex challenges can also make you more deeply invested in the successful outcomes.

Over your career, how have you transformed as a person?

During the course of my career I have learned to be more balanced, to look at the “big picture” more and to understand business workflow and how the “real world” functions. It’s important to take all of these factors into account when making decisions.

What advice would you give your younger professional self?

Dream more, worry less. Don’t be afraid to take risks.

What is the biggest transformation at Dalet that you’ve been a part of?

I’ve led the development for several important projects in the company, but I think that biggest one was developing our entire ecosystem of internal management tools. This transformed the way we worked and enabled better visibility and enforcement of processes across the company. It also helped me to gain extensive knowledge about the entire company’s business workflows.

What has surprised you the most about your organization?

Working at Dalet means you’re surrounded by passionate, professional and kind people, who are aligned on a single goal: To provide the best software and solutions and lead the market.

What changes in technology are essential for businesses to embrace?

The world of technology is always rapidly evolving. If you don’t adapt you will get left behind. Embracing cloud solutions is the future and we are moving quickly to adapt and bring the benefits of cloud services both to our end users and our employees.

Why is low-code important for organizations to be leaning into in the future?

Low-code solutions are enablers. They allow fast development of useful applications at a lower cost — making it so the company can focus more resources toward its core business.

Why, exactly, do you think Domino is so crucial?

Domino makes rapid application development possible, and the platform allows us to adjust rapidly to changes as well as get better insights about our internal processes.
