If you watched the Rio Olympics, you saw Michael Phelps—the most decorated Olympian of all time—win gold again, taking his Olympic gold medal count to a record-breaking twenty-three. You probably remember his spectacular performances at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and at the London Olympics in 2012. But did you know that Phelps has been competing in the Olympics since 2000? His latest triumphs take on even more significance when you consider how long he has been achieving at the highest level.

Excellence is always impressive; but excellence sustained over time is truly special. In the new IDC report on the worldwide enterprise social networks marketplace, IBM again ranked first in market share for Core Enterprise Social Networks—for the seventh year in a row. In today’s dynamic, disruptive environment, that’s quite an accomplishment, and we don’t take it for granted.

Year after year, IBM delivers enterprise social solutions that help our clients engage the right people, accelerate innovation and deliver results. Whether it’s IBM Connections empowering today’s workers to collaborate anywhere, on any device; or IBM Verse intuitive email with social analytics and advanced search capabilities—IBM continues to anticipate and provide the social, collaboration and communication tools that drive productivity and competitive edge for our clients. The latest example of this is our mission to redefine work with IBM Watson—incorporating Watson’s state-of-the-art machine learning into our social solutions to reduce distractions, automate mundane tasks, and provide relevant insights.

IBM has enjoyed continuing leadership in the enterprise social networks space because we’ve consistently delivered on our commitment to bringing people and technology together to foster innovation and productivity. This is an ever-changing, ever-challenging journey over time—and one that we will continue to embrace.
