For most manufacturers, one of their primary goals is to ensure timely product delivery faster to the right customer and have it done as efficiently as possible. In today’s business, efficiency is often measured through automation. Traditionally, sales order automation has been addressed through EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and EDI related processes.
EDI does have its place within the enterprise and though EDI provides a certain level of automation there are still a large number of non-EDI sales orders that enter the enterprise through non EDI related channels such as email, fax, paper or even through Robotic Process Automated services or bots.
When MagicLamp looked at designing its Sales Order Automation solution based on IBM Enterprise Content Management products along with MagicLamp’s proprietary add-ons, we were focused on ensuring that the solution could take full advantage of any existing underlying processes that were already in place to support present sales order processes.
Supporting automation processes can take a lot of time, effort, energy and money and we think that being able to tap into or reuse any existing processes is paramount to any solution that we may propose.
MagicLamp continues to help clients increase their non-EDI orders processed autonomously; which can lead to decreased turnaround times from order to delivery.
To accelerate document capture, MAAX has added features to its Sales Order Automation solution, which sits on top of the IBM Datacap imaging platform. For example, they have added multiple ‘ignore zones’ where users are able to exclude specific areas of a document, such as a hand-written signature, from the capture process. This process potentially allows a greater amount of documents to be processed without human intervention.
