But these were one-off and focused use cases within an organization.

Everything has changed; it’s now “cloud first” across industries and throughout organizations. It’s astonishing to realize that nearly 30% of worldwide enterprise applications will be SaaS-based this year, according to IDC.(1)

What are those applications? Data from Forrester Research shows that Enterprise Process Apps is the leading area where buyers are adopting SaaS, while others including BI, storage, integration and IT are growing rapidly.(2) In 2016, emerging areas like Internet of Things and cognitive systems will see momentum as well.

We’re seeing more SaaS apps deployed throughout organizations as clients embrace cloud looking for ways to drive digital innovation. Buyers are going beyond marketing to sales compensation management and procurement. They are moving beyond individual project management to defining broad analytics and cognitive initiatives that redefine their industries. They are expanding social collaboration projects from narrow project teams to enterprise-wide initiatives that have a global reach.

All of these businesses are focused on driving competitive advantage using the domain expertise and agility that are inherent in SaaS apps.

You can get a front row seat to these client and business partner stories by joining us at InterConnect and following our hashtag #IBMInterconnect.  IBM’s premier cloud and mobile conference takes place February 21-25 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Take advantage of the early registration discount and learn about all of the cloud tracks and sessions.

The Cloud Business Applications track will show you how deeply SaaS apps can be woven into the fabric of every business. We’re featuring innovation across marketing, commerce, BPM, collaboration, HR, and customer experience.

And, don’t miss the panel on the critical topic of SaaS security led by our new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for IBM Cloud, David Cass.

Now SaaS apps are everywhere in just about every organization. I’m sure you’ll find an app at InterConnect that can help your business innovate. We hope to see you there!
