At the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Technicolor, a worldwide technology leader in the media and entertainment sector, is launching a new service, Virdata, to provide businesses with cloud-based monitoring and management services for “Internet of Things” (IoT) and M2M (machine-to-machine) services.
Virdata is teaming with IBM to take advantage of IBM’s SoftLayer cloud capabilities, which operates a global cloud infrastructure platform built for Internet scale and currently provides Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IAAS) to leading-edge customers ranging from Web startups to global enterprises.
Both IBM and Technicolor technologies, with ongoing roadmap alignments around cloud platform built on open standards, are developing innovative solutions in the connected world, thereby enabling an unprecedented number of uses for all industries.
At CES, Virdata and IBM will demonstrate several implementations including: geo location and real-time and historical data for tablets; on-board diagnostics (OBD) utilization to analyze performance data in a connected car and for fleet management; and tracking patient data with a heartbeat monitor.
The demo will be available at Technicolor booth’s – Veronese 2402 in the Venetian Hotel, as well as IBM’s booth – Veronese 2405 & 2406 at the Venetian Hotel.
