In practice, this means that all SmartCloud Enterprise users are able to create a PHP environment using Zend Server as part of SmartCloud Application Services.
I don’t think I have to convince anybody that PHP is very easy to implement and very efficient, especially for creating REST/JSON services as it is powering more than 240 million applications and websites and has broad integration with social media, databases and enterprise systems.

First of all Zend is the leading enterprise-ready PHP platform for deploying, running and managing mobile and web-apps. The Zend platform on SmartCloud Application Services provides a way to deploy successfully and repeatedly an environment for PHP applications that takes into account scalability and avoids performance degradation. The Zend platform also provides monitoring of your PHP applications, so you can be alerted to (and often avoid), the most common causes of application issues.
You have access to two Zend pattern types on IBM SmartCloud Application Service in order to design your environment: Professional Edition or Enterprise Edition.
Both editions include the capability to interconnect Zend components and a DB2 database. Once the pattern is designed, you can launch it multiple times to create your different environments (Dev, Test(s), Staging and Production) and make it part of your DevOps process along with SmartCloud Collaborative LifeCycle Management Services.
Once the pattern is running, you can manage the Zend Server and applications and view the log files.
The Zend patterns are available to all customers in a pay as you go model. A bring your own license model is also available for enterprises that use Zend.
