Citrix and IBM expand partnership to deliver mobility and virtual access to 3D Applications at Toyota Boshoku

In my blog in June, I mentioned that a large auto manufacturer was working with IBM Global Services and Citrix to deliver 3D applications using IBM’s Smart Business Desktop Cloud Service.  On September 11, IBM announced that Toyota Boshoku is using IBM’s SmartCloud Engineering Desktop to Produce 3D Design Images and Share Work Securely Worldwide. You can view the press release here: http://www.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/38807.wss

IBM and Citrix have been working together very closely at executive levels, in technical enablement for CAD ISV’s, and in the field to create a unique and compelling solution for Industrial Sector customers.  IBM brings powerful servers designed for industrial sector, many years of PLM and CAD application expertise and a robust portfolio of Cloud Services. Citrix brings XenDesktop HDX 3D and the benefits of over twenty years of technology development to deliver a superior end user experience.

Toyota Boshoku is using Citrix XenDesktop to deliver a 3D CAD application for mobility, work from home, disaster recovery and IP security. More and more customers are looking at how to say ‘yes’ to BYOD in order to enable engineers to work from anywhere on any device…but when they do that, the ability to secure their Intellectual Property is critical. Citrix delivers the superior experience on any device that the user demands while also keeping critical design information secure in the data center.

In addition to announcing this customer win, IBM also nominated Toyota Boshoku for a Citrix Synergy Innovation Award.  Toyota Boshoku has been chosen as one of the three finalists for the award. The winner will be announced during the Citrix Synergy Barcelona opening keynote on Wednesday, October 17 in Barcelona, Spain.  A video will be posted about this solution (and you can vote for Toyota Boshoku!) shortly before Synergy at this URL: http://www.citrixsynergy.com/barcelona/index.html. Please join us in Barcelona!
