Cloud Computing Research: International conferences on cloud computing

Share this post:

Hi folks, here we will take a look at cloud computing from a research point of view. With this recent cloud wave, we are seeing multi-million dollar investments in R&D from top-notch infrastructure companies and external collaborations with universities and IT companies. Cloud computing, being a service delivery model, is a combination of many sub-areas within computer science and information technology. From a research standpoint, research groups are grappling to solve critical problems in each of the sub-areas, namely virtualization, networks, storage, and compute architecture. These areas form the core of the cloud infrastructure, and are key in delivering infrastructure as a service (IaaS). Research groups are also focusing on the software as a service (SaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) delivery models, which typically sit on top of the infrastructure.

Although it is not possible to talk about all the potential research areas within the cloud computing space, let’s look at the premier research and industry conferences on cloud computing and its allied areas.

Why we added new map tools to Netcool

I had the opportunity to visit a number of telecommunications clients using IBM Netcool over the last year. We frequently discussed the benefits of have a geographically mapped view of topology. Not just because it was nice “eye candy” in the Network Operations Center (NOC), but because it gives an important geographically-based view of network […]
