Contrast Security is a revolutionary product that instruments your applications with sensors to detect security vulnerabilities in your code and protect your applications against attacks. Contrast Security LogoApplications on Bluemix that use the liberty-for-java buildpack can now use the Contrast Security buildpack to secure their applications. The buildpack utilizes the Contrast Security agent to instrument applications with sensors and monitor data flow in the application.
Developers want to spend their time building great solutions, not managing infrastructure. Unfortunately, when companies host their own database solutions, concerns about performance, tuning and security often fall to developers, which means they must spend more time monitoring their data layer and less time writing code. That’s why we developed Compose Enterprise, which provides businesses with a suite of fully managed Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS). Every database is version controlled, patched regularly and maintained by a team of engineers, so developers can skip the admin tasks and work on building performant apps.
New features and fixes in version 1.0.0 of the IBM Cloud Developer Tools CLI which was formerly known as the Bluemix Developer CLI Plug-in.
InfluxData is proud to announce that its InfluxCloud managed service for time-series data is now available on Bluemix. Rooted in open source, the InfluxData platform is built specifically for metrics, events, and other time-based data. In other words, a true modern time-series platform.
While most industries have enthusiastically embraced cloud computing, there is still a widespread perception in the financial services sector that adopting cloud services is either too risky from a security or availability perspective, or outright impossible under current regulatory conditions.
I recently introduced you to Cloud App Security. Now, you have that new cloud-based app. The data is going to be stored in DB2 (on or off the cloud). You want to protect the data, but that cloud app user needs read and write access to the database. You don't want to open the floodgates to the database for that user? Ok, here is a way to secure your Db2 data and still provide the required access. Even if that sounds impossible, trust me. And, I am going to put that "trust me" in context. Read on.
For a while, Db2 has built-in support to directly access Cloud Object Storage (COS) like Amazon S3 and IBM COS (Softlayer / IBM Bluemix IaaS). It allows to perform backups (and restores) as well as data load operations to and from the cloud. Phil Nelson wrote an excellent overview and introduction on the IDUG blog with his examples focused on S3. Thus, in the following I am going to mostly cover Db2 using the IBM Cloud Object Storage and fill in some additional details.
Investment Insights for Asset Managers is a sample application that uses IBM Financial services and IBM Watson services. The application is a modern portfolio manager that provides real-time insights into how news around the world can impact a given portfolio. It showcases what can be done with the financial services when combined with the Watson services. More precisely the application uses a combination of Watson Discovery News, Investment Portfolio, Predictive Market Scenarios and Simulated Instrument Analytics services to achieve its goal.
