"Explore the Bluemix Garage Method" is the first in a series of courses that provide experience with the practices, tools, architectures, and platforms to transform everything from your team to your enterprise.
For three months, the IBM Canada Lab had the opportunity of hosting Tanmay Bakshi, a software programming wunderkind from Brampton, Ontario, through a unique student training program tailored just for him. At 12 years old, Tanmay is taking the developer community by storm with several iOS apps, his own "Tanmay Teaches" YouTube Channel, and public-speaking engagements where he has shared his expertise in front of thousands. Throughout the three-month program, Tanmay spent time at the IBM Canada Lab in Markham and the IBM Bluemix Garage in Toronto, learning from seasoned IBM developers, where he enhanced his skills using IBM Bluemix and IBM Watson, and sharing the unique perspective only a 12-year-old whiz kid can impart. Since June, Tanmay was paired with IBMers who helped accelerate Tanmay’s growth as a developer and thinker.
Last week, Shawn Murray, the Worldwide Director of the IBM Bluemix Garage, sat down with us for a brief interview after an all-hands meeting. He just finished a worldwide tour of the Garages around the world and is still beaming with energy and excitement for the continued growth of the Garages worldwide.
On the IBM® Bluemix® Garage Method website, the home page was redesigned to help you find the information that you need for your DevOps transformation journey.
One year ago, the IBM Bluemix Garage Toronto opened its doors. The Bluemix Garage is a consultancy that empowers our clients, large and small, to think like startups and move at cloud speed. Like the other Garages in San Francisco, London, Nice, and Melbourne, we are located in a creative, dynamic startup space: The DMZ at Ryerson University, recently named the #1 university business incubator in North America.
The Bluemix Garage is one of IBM’s innovation hubs (although definitely not the only one!). One of the thing I love about working in the garage is the surprising projects which cross our threshold, each one opening my eyes to a previously hidden world. I’ve learned a lot about weight management, youth work, artificial intelligence, and lorry driving, but I’ve never worked on an app quite like the one the Garage is writing for Simon Wheatcroft. Simon is an ultra-marathon runner, who also happens to be blind.
The Bluemix Garage is established in the Business Incubator Center Nice Côte d’Azur (Centre Européen d’Entreprises et d’Innovation), the largest incubator in the area. This is where the event took place and an ideal location surrounded by many startups. The room was full; more than a hundred people showed up including local startups, small and medium enterprises, large companies, business partners, school representatives.
Let's meet in Nice on March 23rd to inaugurate the first Bluemix Garage in France, our new rapid development program of innovative applications based on the IBM Design Thinking method! Our experts will show you how to create, manage and run in minutes a wide range of applications in the cloud with IBM Bluemix.
