High-Speed Transfer Server for IBM Cloud Private
IBM Aspera has released its flagship High-Speed Transfer Server for IBM Cloud Private (ICP). At a push of a button, a highly available, self-healing cluster of Aspera transfer servers can be provisioned within ICP. This release has rearchitected Aspera’s transfer server into modern microservices that leverage Dockerization and Helm provisioning. You can now move data rapidly and securely into and out of ICP environments. The Aspera transfer cluster for ICP can also optionally be tethered to the Aspera on Cloud SaaS to provide web applications for data delivery and distribution and to enable data movement across any cloud environment (both public and private clouds).
Use cases for Aspera for ICP
Journey to cloud
Aspera is the perfect companion on your journey to the cloud. Due to the wide swing of workload complexity, most enterprises use a blended strategy of bare-metal machines, virtual machines, public cloud, and private clouds. Aspera delivers support in all of these environments to provide a consistent experience to transport and secure your data, regardless of your environment and where your data resides. Because of this consistency and reliability, many enterprises and industries have standardized on using Aspera for their data transport needs.
Containers, Kubernetes, and microservices are proven to deliver speed and simplicity, and they are being adopted rapidly. Use Aspera to take the data your legacy applications depend on and transfer it efficiently and securely to your modernized microservices and containerized versions of those applications.
Organizations are increasingly adopting a hybrid cloud infrastructure that uses a combination of public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises storage and compute resources. While these environments help to reduce IT costs, streamline administration, and speed application development, moving data across the infrastructure has become much more challenging. Files and data sets that need to be exchanged are often stored in multiple clouds and on-premise systems.
Traditional transfer technologies bridging these environments are slow and unreliable, and physical disk shipments between them are time-consuming and expose data to unnecessary security risks. IBM Aspera overcomes the data transfer challenges of the hybrid cloud by allowing companies to securely and reliably move big data across on-premise and multicloud environments at unrivaled speeds. The IBM Aspera High-Speed Transfer Server for ICP is the fastest way to transfer, exchange, and deliver data from any location to anywhere with anyone.
While the cloud offers many benefits, moving your data to the cloud can be challenging. Traditional transfer software technologies are slow and unreliable, and shipping physical disk storage is time-consuming and exposes your data to unnecessary security risks. Aspera offers high-speed data transfer that uses the public internet to securely and reliably migrate large amounts of data to, from, or between any major cloud.
Benefits of Aspera for ICP
- Transfer data up to hundreds of times faster than legacy technology such as FTP, SFTP, and SCP.
- Move data from and to any cloud environment—public, private, or hybrid—across the longest distances.
- Provide enterprise-grade security and full auditability of data transfers.
- Achieve more efficient and reliable use of the existing network.
