The disaster recovery problem
Can you quickly recover your whole network following a service disruption?
Many of our customers are in highly regulated industries, such as finance and healthcare. They need an operating system that enables them to meet security and privacy requirements, even during emergencies.
Companies with complex, hybrid network infrastructures face the same challenge. These businesses may have of a mix of the following:
- Public and private clouds
- Virtualized and non-virtualized environments
- Remote offices
- SaaS- and non-SaaS-based applications and data
All these organizations need an affordable way to validate their Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) plans. Using IBM Cloud as the operating system for Storage Guardian, we can orchestrate servers on a utility basis and provide our customers with sophisticated and flexible DRaaS at a competitive price.
Our solution, called Fast Failover, is an easy-to-use way to recover applications and data into the cloud if they’re lost in a flood, fire, or other natural disaster. Company managers can begin a fully automated recovery into IBM Cloud by accessing the web or dialing our recovery hotline. The service orchestrates all servers and sends VPN links to the organization’s staff to access the recovered applications and data. Customers receive analytics relating to their backups, including their Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs).
Why IBM Cloud?
Many enterprises have complex data and application management requirements. We needed an enterprise cloud operating system where we could orchestrate a recent copy of our clients’ servers, no matter how complex their networks are. IBM Cloud is well suited to this purpose. The Fast Failover tool also enables our clients to test and validate their recovery plans affordably on a utility basis.
With IBM Cloud, we can validate and implement our clients’ disaster recovery plans twice as fast as with conventional data center technology. Most importantly, we avoid VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) licensing costs, giving us savings estimated at likely 90 percent or even higher.
