GitHub Universe
Pier 70, San Francisco
Oct. 10-12 Register to attend

GitHub mark - OctocatOctober is Octocat month for GitHub. And, for the second year in a row, IBM has a lounge at the GitHub Universe event. If you are at the event, please come by our lounge, relax, recharge your equipment, and take in a demo or two.

TJBot at GitHub Universe

At this year’s Universe, we’ll demonstrate all the cool ways you can program TJBot with Watson services. From talking baseball to the photo booth (say Cheese!), TJBot will be on hand to demonstrate what is possible with IBM cognitive services and this powerful little robot. We’ll showcase some of our most popular Code Journeys, including how to build a retail chatbot and creating a virtual reality speech sandbox.

We’ll also have cool demos on hand at our lounge, including the TJBot photo booth and a Star Trek VR game (Star Trek Bridge Crew)! You don’t want to miss it!

For our hosted GitHub Enterprise service, we’ll focus on the value-add of our offering and how we manage the service.  For example,

  • Deploy an HA pair of GHE servers and commit to a 99.5{07c2b926d154bd5dc241f595a572d3349d41d98f2484798a4a616f4fafe1ebc0} uptime SLA.
  • Provide security, encryption of data at rest and data in motion.
  • Take hourly backups and store them offsite for disaster recovery.
  • Constantly monitor server functionality and performance metrics.
  • Automate upgrades, failover, etc.

GitHub Universe speaking session

And last but not least, Bill Higgins, an IBM Distinguished Engineer, will share a speaking session with Jason Warner, Senior VP of Technology for GitHub. In the session, these two will discuss concrete strategies for rolling out great tools at scale, including: choosing the right tools, finding and empowering user champions, enabling effective continuous learning (in the context of doing work), and gaining the support of senior leadership. It promises to be a great session for Universe!

If you are interested in attending GitHub Universe, feel free to use the discount code COMMUNITYU1715 when you register to attend. See you in San Francisco!
