IBM PureApplication InterConnect recap: sessions, VIP awards & more

Share this post:

Recently, IBM held its premiere cloud conference, InterConnect 2017 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. From the showroom floor to 2,000+ breakout sessions, attendees were able to choose from a vast array of opportunities to speak with experts and explore the latest innovations and hottest trends spanning the entire hybrid IT life cycle.

For IBM PureApplication and IBM Bluemix Local System – hybrid cloud solutions that accelerate application environment deployment – experts, business partners and customers of the solutions led over 20 sessions. From online retailers to energy companies, attendees were able to hear directly from organizations across the world that have implemented PureApplication and seen the benefits of a hybrid cloud solution that supports both cloud-enabled and cloud-native applications.

In addition to the normal session curriculum, the Hybrid Cloud Management Trends & Directions Keynote presented by Justin Youngblood, VP of IBM Hybrid Cloud Management, attracted numerous app developers and IT Ops managers. Viewers received a look into IBM’s strategy with hybrid cloud management, automation and application environment deployment. Not only was IBM PureApplication discussed in this roadmap, but also IBM Cloud Automation Manager (CAM) – key solutions needed to optimize multi-cloud environments.

It was also important for many groups to celebrate their successes in adopting solutions that transformed their IT footprint. For Hybrid Cloud Management clients, including IBM PureApplication, IBM Cloud Orchestrator and CAM, a VIP Reception for clients and business partners took place at the 1923 Bourbon Bar. With cocktails flowing and hors d’oeuvre going around, companies from all around the world – Angola, Australia, Belgium, Israel, and the U.S.. – were celebrated for their accomplishments achieving speed to market and innovation using PureApplication. Each recognized company received an exclusive IBM PureApplication Innovation Award.

Here’s a few reasons why these companies were recognized:

  • Online Retailer: Improved provisioning time from months to days and achieved dev/ops agility.
  • Insurance Institute: Provisioning time reduced from 2 weeks to 50 minutes using PureApplication System, allowing the organization to dramatically increase the number of builds per day.
  • Drugstore/Retailer: Reduced environment deployment time from 4 months to just a few hours with PureApplication (Service, System and Software) vastly improving developer productivity and efficiency.

Overall, the VIP reception gave customers a chance to be recognized, all while having a good time.

Interconnect 2017 may be over, but the transfer of knowledge doesn’t stop there. Interested in more information on how you can speed up your environments like the companies above?
