In response to demand to customize applications developed with Watson Discovery Service, we are excited to announce a lower price for using custom models developed with Watson Knowledge Studio.
Here’s what is changing:
The pricing is in effect beginning Mar 31, 2017.
What is customization?
Watson Knowledge Studio allows subject matter experts to teach Watson the linguistic nuances that are specific to their company, their industry or domain with a simple UI. During this process, custom models are created within Watson Knowledge Studio that can then be deployed within different end point applications developed with Watson – including Watson Discovery Service and Watson Natural Language Understanding.
How can I customize with Discovery Service?
Using custom models developed with Watson Knowledge Studio in Watson Discovery Service, developers can now enrich content in the Discovery Service’s data pipeline based on typed entity and relations that have been defined by subject matter experts. With custom enrichments that are specific to your company or industry, you can extract more value from your data.
Can I try customization before purchase?
Yes! Watson Discovery Service offers a Free 30 day Trial that allows users to test custom enrichments with a custom model deployed from Watson Knowledge Studio (sign up here). Watson Knowledge Studio also offers a free plan to build custom annotation models (sign up here).
Who benefits from this pricing change?
Any Discovery Service user who is currently deploying custom models from Watson Knowledge Studio (or is planning to do so with in their application).
What do I need to do to take advantage of the new pricing?
You don’t need to do anything – your monthly bill will reflect the lower pricing for customization!
What regions are affected?
The new pricing applies to all Bluemix regions.
Are discount structures affected?
IBM Bluemix will support and honor existing discount structures.
