ibm box hero imageToday IBM and Box announced the availability of Box Zones in London and Frankfurt leveraging IBM Cloud Object Storage technology on the IBM Cloud. In addition, the two companies announced an expansion of the partnership to bring together Box technology and IBM Cloud Object storage on a global basis. This announcement is welcome news for enterprises driven to enhance productivity, creativity and collaboration all while assuring superior protection of data and content.

Where’s the magic?

Using Box is effortless. Whether you are a novice or a ninja – Box is one of those great products that is so easy to use and so engaging that you find yourself and your team enhance your collective productivity and collaboration – which should be great news!

With Box Zones you can now link that ease of use to some rock solid technology on the back end. Specifically, the underlying IBM Cloud Object Storage technology. With over 400 patents, this technology is designed to address the growing storage demands and concerns of organizations around the world. Security and data protection are two of the biggest concerns in the new business reality. As content is uploaded through Box and Box Zones, it seamlessly finds its way to the IBM Cloud Object Storage environment. As data comes in, it is encrypted and sliced immediately, with the slices dispersed across multiple regions automatically. With the “immediate consistency” capability, if a write operation is confirmed, data is protected immediately. That’s really important, because if a region goes down, data can still be retrieved from the slices that exist in remaining regions. This unique technology helps assure that applications remain up and running and access to critical digital assets continues with the underlying data protected from regional outages or security attacks.

But the IBM and Box partnership goes even further. Our long standing partnership has created a rich portfolio, designed for the enterprise to address how agile teams collaborate inside and outside the organization, and engage with clients or constituents. Marrying Box technology with the expansive IBM Enterprise Content Management, Collaboration Solutions and other portfolios, our partnership offers you a broad array of ready-to-use applications to choose from.

Technology is at its best when its use becomes transparent, effortless and natural. With this latest announcement you have that. Whether it is the effortless user experience that Box and Box Zones offer, or the automated, geo dispersal technology of IBM Cloud Object Storage – you have a technology set ideally suited for the new business realities.
