IBM has partnered with 21Vianet to launch Bluemix in China. On October 19th, 2016 IBM and 21Vianet together expanded the partnership to provide Watson Internet of Things (IoT) Platform, Blockchain and advanced cloud data services on the IBM Bluemix Platform.
The Watson IoT Platform service via this partnership is the same solution that’s available from other worldwide locations. Watson IoT Platform is an easy-to-use platform to develop IoT applications, connect devices, and store and analyze data.
CCTV.com, one of China Bluemix’s early clients, used China Bluemix and Watson IoT Platform to report the 2016 Vaude Tibet Challenge – a 10-day, 2000-kilometer extreme bicycle race from Sichuan province to Tibet along China’s Route 318 national highway. The sensors attached to each bike and cyclist transmitted data including GPS, altitude, body temperature and heart rate via mobile devices using MQTT to China Bluemix’s Watson IoT Platform and Cloudant database. Sports fans from across the country could monitor the race in real time from their mobile devices or Web browsers, and track the exact location, relative position and physical condition of each of the 40 cyclists. This is just one of many examples of how valuable China Bluemix’s Watson IoT platform can be.
Watson IoT Platform has three deployment models in China, including public, dedicated and local deployment (IoT Platform deployed in the clients’ own data centers).
If you wish to test drive China Bluemix, please submit your requests to the China Bluemix site to 21Vianet.
