Bluemix Dedicated in China

Share this post:

We are thrilled to announce the addition of China to the list of countries where Bluemix Dedicated is available. Effective June 17, 2016, a client in the greater China region can now choose between Beijing and Hong Kong to set up a Bluemix Dedicated environment for their most sensitive data and workload.

Bluemix Dedicated in China is supported by Bluebox, IBM’s OpenStack based private cloud infrastructure. The offering is available through 21Vianet. The Bluemix partnership between IBM and 21Vianet is highlighted in this earlier post.

In addition to the Bluemix runtimes and services such as Auto-Scaling and Cloudant database, Bluemix clients in China will be given access to a set of experimental cognitive and related services developed by IBM Research- China. The initial set of services includes APIs for: Chinese voice recognition, Chinese name entity recognition, Chinese Q&A, Chinese deep sentiment analysis, customized image classifier, mobile social media integration (Wechat), and hybrid database service. In recent years client such as China Open has benefited from cognitive solutions powered by these technologies. By making these capabilities available as Bluemix services clients can easily experiment, build, and deploy innovative cognitive solutions in Bluemix. We plan to make more cognitive services available to our Chinese clients as we expand our Bluemix offerings in China.
