ASP.NET 5 buildpack updates for RC1 support

Share this post:

The ASP.NET 5 buildpack supports ASP.NET 5 Release Candidate 1, or RC1. The information in my last post, ASP.NET 5 buildpack updates for beta8 support is still valid, but now you can use beta8 or RC1 DNX.

When you decide to migrate from beta8, the .NET Web Development and Tools Blog has a good overview of the changes you may notice in Announcing ASP.NET 5 Release Candidate 1. RC1 breaking changes are also listed in the announcements repository.

One other thing to look out for when running your application in Bluemix is that the DNX default is the latest one. If you still want to use beta8 then your application needs to specify that in a global.json file. See the buildpack documentation for details.
