Streaming Analytics is ready to perform your real-time analysis in production

The Streaming Analytics beta has ended, and the enhanced Streaming Analytics service is now generally available!  The new service is ready to perform real-time analysis on data-in-motion for your production applications.  A quick summary of some of the new features of the service are described below.

You choose the size of your instance: Production applications require the ability to scale-up as necessary.  As your performance needs grow, so can your Streaming Analytics instance!  The service now lets you grow your Streams instance to the right size to support the requirements of your analytic applications.  Beta instances had a fixed size of two application nodes, but now you can add additional nodes to your instance, according to your performance needs.  You can also remove nodes from your instance during periods where fewer resources are required.

Available in London: It’s always a good idea to keep your real-time analytics close to your data.  Now you have another location choice for hosting your Streams applications.  The Streaming Analytics service is now available in the United Kingdom region of Bluemix.

Enhanced integration: Integration with other services, products and technologies continues to grow.  Here are some of the latest additions:

Additional samples: Several new samples applications that use the service are now available:

  • SPL Samples is a collection of Streams applications that you can deploy and explore using the Streaming Analytics service.
  • Event Detection is a new starter application written in Node.js that uses the Streaming Analytics service to detect complex events.
  • RSS Text Analytics is a sample application that ingests RSS feeds from the internet and uses text analytics to analyze them.

Improved console: The Streaming Analytics web console keeps getting better.  See the latest enhancements in the new service.
