IBM Watson Personality Insights, one of the most popular Watson Developer Cloud service APIs, now supports textual Spanish input. Spanish is one of the most popular languages used on the Internet today.
Personality Insights was announced as Generally Available in February 2015. Individual developers, IBM Watson ecosystem partners, and large enterprises are building new solutions and blending this service into existing applications across a large number of industries. Their goals include understanding their customers to better serve and communicate with individuals, understanding their company brand personality, and finding more efficient ways to effectively communicate with their target audience.
Today we are pleased to announce further updates to this service.
- Spanish models are now available
This feature allows applying Personality Insights to derive personality, values, and needs from Spanish input text. It is a step forward in making this technology available for use with multiple languages.
- Improved needs model
The new model provides a better estimation overall, and more accurate results as more input text is provided for an author.
- Additional output: Raw Trait Scores
In addition to normalized percentile scores, a developer can return (optionally) raw trait scores. Based on feedback from our partners, this feature will allow customers with large populations to normalize scores against their own population, improving their ability to analyze and compare results within their own population. If chosen, the raw trait scores are delivered together with their corresponding raw sampling error, which qualifies the accuracy of the reported raw score based on the amount of input text provided.
- More documentation for guidance and insight in applying the service
Available online, studies conducted by IBM researchers show the service in action. Their findings provide insight into some of the many ways that you can apply the service to your business and communications goals. The documentation for the Personality Insights service includes guidance on applying this service and use cases for the Personality Insights service.
These improvements are backwards compatible with applications that are currently using the Personality Insights APIs.
IBM is placing the power of Watson in the hands of developers and an ecosystem of partners, entrepreneurs, tech enthusiasts and students with a growing platform of Watson services (APIs) to create an entirely new class of apps and businesses that make cognitive computing systems the new computing standard.
