Best of Bluemix: Apps, Security, Speed

Share this post:

To call attention to popular articles on Bluemix available on IBM developerWorks, this weekly post will introduce three “best of” articles. This week’s entry focuses on the top 10 apps, securing your application with social media authentication, and developing applications at the speed of Bluemix.

  • A year of Bluemix: Top 10 apps

We’ve seen a vast array of apps deployed to Bluemix — from those rooted in humanitarian causes, like water conservation, to those with a less lofty goal, like spying on your neighbors’ Instagram posts. The editorial team sifted them all to identify the apps that touched us in some way, even if only our collective funny bone. And what follows is our top 10.

  • Build a secure app with Bluemix and social media authentication

Managing a proliferation of passwords can be a huge nuisance. Learn how to add social login from Google+ and Facebook to your Ruby on Rails application. Social login allows your app to authenticate using OAuth technology supplied by Google+ and Facebook. This improves users’ login experience and also saves you the hassle of managing passwords. Instead, all password management is provided by the social login provider.

  • Developing at the speed of Bluemix

Rachel Reinitz, IBM Distinguished Engineer and Founder & CTO of IBM Bluemix Garage, discusses the quick, explosive growth of IBM Bluemix, its revolutionary impact on development in the cloud, innovative ways it is being used by organizations of all sizes, and how it is rapidly expanding to make all aspects of development amazingly easy and lightning fast.
