Who will participate?
Participants from across diverse fields such as healthcare, technology, engineering, design, and business, come together to meet, share ideas, collaborate, and instill passion in one another for their ideas. After forming teams based on these creative ideas, participants work together to build those ideas into concrete products and business plans.
How is this different from another hackathon?
Tufts provides the space, the food, and the mentor-ship; expert healthcare consultants, business leaders, and entrepreneurial doctors are all available to the teams throughout the weekend to provide guidance and constructive criticism, helping the teams transform their start up ideas into practical business plans.
On the third day, all of the teams reconvene to make their business pitches to a select group of judges with expertise in relevant fields. Overall, the Challenge is an exciting, intense, and fruitful event that yields impressive business plans. Today, two former Innovation Challenge teams are in the later stages of product development, and one of the start ups has already signed its first contract!
This year, the annual Innovation Challenge will be held from January 29 to February 1, 2015, at Tufts University School of Medicine. This year the event’s creative energy will be channeled towards solutions in the complex realm of Medical Education.
We expect this event to be better than ever, and are looking forward to seeing the creative and innovative ideas that will address the pressing issues faced by healthcare payers, providers, and patients.
