Register today for the 2017 Global Marathon – a free, virtual event focused on women in engineering and technology. The event takes place this Wednesday and Thursday, March 8 & 9, and will be a unique opportunity women (and girls) in STEM to connect, learn and be inspired by others around the world.
The IBM International Foundation (IBM Corporate Citizenship & Corporate Affairs) is a corporate sponsor of the event, and IBMers and our partners will be leading important discussion sections on new collar jobs and millennial women in technology.
On Wednesday, March 8 (3:00 to 3:30 pm EDT), tune into a spirited panel discussion about “Empowering Dreams Beyond Engineering and Technology” – with a focus on millennial women who work in engineering and technology who use their skills to pursue their passions outside and inside of work. Panelists from Dupont, IBM & IBM Watson Health and New Faces will participate.
Then on Thursday, March 9 (12:30 to 1:00 pm EDT), get the latest on how IBM P-TECH schools – grade 9 to 14 schools that combine high school and community college to connect graduates directly to jobs – are fueling the new collar jobs economy. With explosive growth in jobs that require postsecondary credentials and training, but not necessarily a traditional four-year college degree, IBM P-TECH programs are helping to reinvent education in the U.S. and abroad. Discussants will include the principal of the IBM P-TECH partner school in Connecticut, and a recent P-TECH graduate now working for IBM.
