Think Madrid: Where Technology Meets Humanity
On 13 November, clients and Business Partners joined IBMers, industry experts and leading experts at Think Madrid, our premier event in Spain. This year, the theme was Where Technology Meets Humanity, as we sought to address the challenges of the digital era and to explore how AI, Cloud, Blockchain and the Internet of Things are transforming industry, business and society.
Our audience of 2,000 visitors included over 1,000 clients and 420 Business Partners, and we were able to stream the event to a further 900 online delegates via IBM Cloud Video, making this the biggest event in IBM Spain history.
More importantly, however, it was a chance to engage in an open exchange of ideas across a lively mix of plenary sessions, one-on-one networking, and our four campuses and conference areas—themed around AI, Cloud & Data, Modern Infrastructure and Security & Resiliency, and the Genius of Things theme zone.
One thing resonated clearly throughout the conference—and that was the power of the ecosystem in which IBM, our partners, clients, peers, influencers, even our competitors are a part of. Every member of our extended ecosystem has a role in making the technology and solutions we develop, use and sell serve the interests of the people who use it, whether in business or in their everyday life.
In particular, I want to call out the work of our Business Partner, KIO AI, who initially were due to join us in an exhibitor capacity. KIO AI’s anti-bullying solution, WatsomApp, made such an impact on the Think team that we instead asked them to join us onstage in the plenary session. This kind of solution—an IBM Watson-powered chatbot that enables teachers to tackle bullying in schools—is exactly what we mean when we talk about the impact that technology can have in making people’s lives better.
A further 26 Business Partners took part in the conference and exhibition areas, showcasing how they are utilising Security, AI, Cloud and Blockchain to unlock the potential of data in the service of business and society, and they were joined by client speakers throughout the sessions from the likes Orange, Santander, Iberia, Vodafone and Bankia.
